Ehssan Veiszadeh, Deputy CEO of the Committee for Sydney, said:

“Sydney’s on its way back and summer is looking so much better. This is the roadmap we desperately needed and it’s thanks to the people of Sydney.

“They responded with record vaccination rates and now we can all look forward to much more freedoms in the coming weeks.

“We’re thrilled to hear fully vaccinated people in LGAs of concern will have the same freedoms as those in other areas – this will be a real incentive for even more people to get the jab.

“We now look forward to more details about the freedoms that will be enjoyed after 80 per cent of vaccination rates are reached.

“The community and businesses need certainty and a clear pathway out will provide a further boost to vaccination rates.”

The Committee has released a Progress Report on priority steps to reopen — with detail on schools, construction, moving social life outdoors, accelerating vaccination, universities and research, culture and live performance, visitor and the experience industry, and reviving high streets – in places we’re celebrating the huge progress we’ve made, in others highlighting what remains to be done: https://sydney.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/CFS-Progress-Report-Covid-19-Reopening-Recovery-September-2021.pdf
