In response to the Government’s announcement of changes to the reopening roadmap, Gabriel Metcalf, CEO of the Committee for Sydney, said:

“These are sensible changes to the road map. It’s excellent to see social and economic impacts being given more weighting in our pandemic response.

We have long argued that more freedoms should be granted to the community, given our high vaccination rates. These changes are long overdue.

It is also great news that school is being brought forward, bringing much needed relief to kids and their parents.

We would have liked to see the 5km radius removed. It has never made sense to keep our community so disconnected, especially given so many are already vaccinated.”
