About the Competition

WHAT IS THE
COMPETITION?

The Public Space Ideas Competition is an exciting opportunity to reimagine, inspire, create, include, and bring awareness to great public spaces across Greater Sydney. We want to showcase great ideas and spark conversations.

This competition is open to anyone with a passion for public space to submit an idea for how we can improve public space in Greater Sydney.

With a jury representing an incredible depth and breadth of experience, five award categories and four additional awards (including a People’s Choice award run on Sydney Morning Herald’s Website), this is your opportunity to help create a new conversation in Sydney.

How do I
apply?

If you have an idea you would like to submit, the application process is very simple. All you need to provide is up to 250 words of description and an image. This image could be a detailed rendering (3,500 x 2,500 pixels, 300dpi, max. 15MB), a sketch, a drawing or anything in between.

ARE THERE
AWARDS?

The Public Spaces Ideas Competition invites industry and the broader community to think about current spaces in need of transformation and put forward ideas on how we can make this happen. 1. Best Public Facility Idea
  2. Best Open Space Idea
  3. Best Street and/or Plaza Idea
  4. Best Temporary and/or Low-Cost Public Space Idea
  5. Best Resilient Public Space Idea

In addition, there are 4 extra awards:

  1. Minister for Planning and Public Space Award
