Michael has been a member of the Committee for Sydney Board since 2014 and Chair since December 2015. He is an independent director whose work spans several key sectors in Sydney.

He is President of the Art Gallery of NSW and Chancellor of UTS. Michael also chairs Greater Sydney Parklands, Northwest Rapid Transit, the Westmead Institute for Medical Research and he is co-chair of Reconciliation Australia.
