Larry McGrath is an urban geographer and General Manager NSW and ACT of McConnell Dowell, an engineering and construction firm operating in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Larry’s career has seen him work across the public and private sectors in transport and infrastructure, helping to deliver major projects and implement significant reform initiatives.

Larry was previously an Executive General Manager at John Holland, where he was responsible for managing the business’s response to major projects, running the global tender submissions team, and leading the corporate affairs and customer experience teams, as well as assisting with projects in delivery. Larry remains Non Executive Director of John Holland Rail.

Larry’s other prior roles have included managing the transport division of a major infrastructure industry group, and working in senior roles in the New South Wales Government.

As Chief of Staff to NSW Minister for Transport and then Treasurer, The Hon Gladys Berejiklian MP, Larry helped bring to market and deliver major PPP projects like the North West Rail Link and Sydney Light Rail, and was critically involved in transport planning and policy, operations, procurement, financing, budgeting, service delivery and communications.

Larry was named Australian Financial Review’s BOSS Magazine Young Executive of the Year in 2019.
