How can we bring more cultural experiences to Sydneysiders’ daily lives?
We tackled this question at our Everyday Culture report launch, where we were joined by members across government, consulting, arts and culture and the built environment to unpack how we can improve Sydney’s ‘everyday culture’ – creativity and connection for everyone, everyday.
Introduced by Harri Bancroft, we heard from Kerri Glasscock on reviving underused town halls as cultural hubs and increasing adaptable event infrastructure in public spaces, making Sydney a ‘plug-and-play’ city for pop-up events. Amelia Thorpe and Alison Lee promoted parklets to boost community engagement in spaces typically reserved for cars, and Christopher Tooher talked about consulting with local residents and business owners to temporarily limit car access to streets and open them up to pedestrians.
