World leading economist Mariana Mazzucato’s acclaimed new book, ‘Mission Economy: a moonshot guide to changing capitalism’ argues we need a rethink of capitalism and government – from their roles and relationship in driving innovation, to how economic value is created, measured and shared. Mazzucato says we can learn from the bold vision of sending people to the moon, and a ‘mission-oriented way’ to solve the grand challenges facing humanity. Her vision rethinks policy, R&D and knowledge itself – it’s a powerful vision with the public interest firmly at its heart.

Mariana Mazzucato joined us from London in conversation with author and Sydney Deputy Lord Mayor Jess Scully. (Recorded live 20 April 2021)
