Ehssan Veiszadeh is the Deputy CEO and Director of Strategy at the Committee for Sydney.
Ehssan is an experienced strategic communications professional with a background in government, journalism and small business.
As a member of NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian’s senior leadership team between 2015 and 2021, Ehssan provided strategic advice to the Premier, Cabinet and the public sector on a range of high profile issues facing the State.
Ehssan led the Government’s strategic communications and stakeholder management throughout a difficult period for NSW in 2020, with a focus on the Covid-19 pandemic response and recovery.
His advice helped the NSW Government effectively respond to the pandemic, ensuring the community was kept safe, and regularly informed, while keeping the economy open.
Prior to entering government, Ehssan worked in media, including five years as a journalist for Australian Associated Press (AAP).
Ehssan moved to Australia with his family in 1991 from Iran, initially settling in Sydney’s western suburbs. After working in the family business from the age of 17, he co-founded a number of other businesses, including a monthly bilingual magazine and an events promotion company.
He is passionate about culture, the arts and liveability in global cities such as Sydney.
