April 13, 2017

Committee for Sydney CEO, Dr Tim Williams, has been appointed to a new body, the Cities Reference Group. Created by the Australian Government, the Cities Reference Group will help advise on urban policy and support the delivery of the Government’s Smart Cities Plan.

Assistant Minister for Cities and Digital Transformation Angus Taylor said the Group comprised leading thinkers on cities issues in Australia, as well as internationally renowned experts. “It will be a valuable source of expertise and insight for the Government as we continue to deliver on the Smart Cites Plan,” Assistant Minister Taylor said.

The Cities Reference Group includes representatives from across non-governmental organisations, the academic community and business groups, and will encourage discussion to foster new thinking, test ideas and promote policy leadership. The appointment of Dr Tim Williams to the group has been welcomed by Committee for Sydney Chair Michael Rose, who sees it as an acknowledgement of the Committee’s thought leadership in this space in Sydney, Australia and globally.
