International Women’s Day Breakfast 2018 #PressforProgress

March 8, 2018

Monday 8th March, 2018

The Committee for Sydney recently held it’s second annual International Women’s Day Breakfast.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

There are huge benefits to cities and nations that have diversity in their leadership, one element of that diversity being gender. Last year we acknowledged the huge role women have played and continue to play in shaping our cities. This year we focused on ways in which Sydney can become a hub for global talent, in particular females.

Committee for Sydney Deputy Chair, Sally Loane, chaired an impressive panel who added weight to our dialogue around the ways in which Sydney can best position itself to grow, retain and attract the best and brightest female talent to our shores. Panel members included:

  • Prue Car MP – NSW Shadow Minister for Skills, Shadow Assistant Minister for Education
  • Moya Dodd – Executive Committee Member for the Asian Football Confederation
  • Emma Dunch – CEO of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra
  • Troy Roderick – Strategic Advisor to Male Champions of Change

The event was attended by key stakeholders from business, government and the civic sector across Greater Sydney.

Special thanks to our event sponsors: Platinum Sponsors, Deloittee; Gold Sponsor, The Star Sydney; and Silver Sponsors Grimshaw, SMEC and Transdev.
