The Committee for Sydney was pleased to hold an event with Alan Chan, the Chairman of the Land Transport Authority in Singapore.

Singapore has one of the most advanced land and transport master plans in the world. It’s Land Transport Authority has committed that by 2030, 8-in-10 households will live within a 10-minute walk from a train station. It has also committed that 85{49a7e38090d84b81a7ba1bb67cd1b3b0d9cda4ef54936562ea834556eae8bfc9} of public transport journeys will be completed within 60 minutes and that 75{49a7e38090d84b81a7ba1bb67cd1b3b0d9cda4ef54936562ea834556eae8bfc9} of all peak hour journeys will be undertaken on public transport. Singapore is also a global leader in the use of Intelligent Transport Systems and is investing in a pioneering high-speed rail link to Kuala Lumpur.

To outline how this vision is being delivered, Mr Chan delivered a keynote speech which was followed by a panel discussion that also included:

  • Alison Holloway – Chief Executive Officer, Principal and Partner of SGS Economics and Planning
  • Geoff Roberts – Deputy Chief Commissioner and Economic Commissioner at the Greater Sydney Commission

The Committee for Sydney would like to thank Deloitte for hosting the event.
